The Thinking, Acting, and Neurodevelopment (TAN) Lab is a developmental psychology research lab at the University of Victoria (UVic). We live and work on the beautiful lands and waters of Vancouver Island, on the traditional territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples.
We study how minds learn and how people come to understand one another. By studying social understanding, emotion, and development across the lifespan, we seek to uncover the processes that allow people to think, feel, and connect with others.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive research community where people from all backgrounds feel welcome. We are also passionate about building partnerships with families, schools, and community members, and about sharing our discoveries in ways that contribute to a deeper understanding of human behaviour and development.
